About Woodhall Spa

Set beneath the huge rolling "pinky" skies of the Fens is the delightful town of Woodhall Spa. It is sited on heathland, surrounded by lovely woodland and as its name suggests is based beside spa waters which made the town notable in the 19th century when it was fashionable as an inland resort town.

Today, the town remains a decidedly pleasant place to visit, with much to remind the visitor of its former splendour. Once past the welcoming town sign you quickly feel the warmth of the atmosphere and note the delightful bright red post boxes, one dating from the reign of Edward VII, the other from George V.

St. Peters Church is interesting, it is built mostly of rich russet brick adorned with black and white timber framing. This is a truly delightful church which is well worth a visit.

Another place not to be missed is the Cottage Museum which is open from Easter to October. The museum is in the house of local photographer John Wield, it features interesting local exhibits, a display of John's work, together with the history of the famous Dambusters.

Old railway paths now offer the opportunity for pleasant walks beneath lofty trees and glimpses of local wildlife.
